‘Kaduna LGA electrifies 12 communities, reconstructs 5 feeder roads’

Chikun local government area has provided electricity in 12 communities and is currently reconstructing five feeder roads in the council, the interim Chairman, Hajiya Hadiza Yahuza, has said. 

Addressing the first Kaduna Youth Agenda quarterly policy dialogue on Wednesday in Kaduna, the interim council chairman said that they are building a training workshop for people living with disability, as well as a skill acquisition center to provide skills for youth who are not currently engaged.

Hajiya Hadiza said while the council faces lots of security challenges across its 12 wards, they have engaged lot of youth including women in the various areas to serve as civilian JTF to provide security for their localities. 

“We have electrified 12 communities in Chikun local government area, provided high tension wires and transformers. Our youth are now self employed. We have five feeder roads being graded back to back, which has helped our goods coming out to the Kaduna City. 

“We built training workshop for the disabled and we are also building a skill acquisition center to provide skills for the youth not fully engaged. We have purchased sewing and knitting machines for our youth to empower them.

“We are building five outpost police stations back to back in our communities. Chikun has 12 wards with lot of security challenges, we employed lots of our youth including women as civilian JTF to serve as security and we provide them with torch lights, rain boots, boxer motorcycles to ease their movement.

“We hold frequent meetings with our youth. We constructed tables and chairs using used tires for our primary school to in Kurmin Sata using our youth to keep them busy. We have purchased and we are currently distributing N6 million consumables to our primary healthcare centers,” she said.
