Kaduna pilgrims advised on medical screening

Registered intending pilgrims for this year’s hajj from Kaduna state are to undergo medical screening this week in order to ascertain their health status before embarking on the exercise. Th is was contained is a press statement issued by the Public Relations Offi cer of the Pilgrims’ Board, Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi. According to him, female intending pilgrims will have to undergo pregnancy test, in addition to the general medical screening of other pilgrims. Th e statement warned that medical screening “is compulsory for all intending pilgrims” and that it “will only accept screening that is conducted in government designated hospitals.”

“Th e medical and pregnancy tests are absolutely necessary and compulsory, so any pilgrim who refuses to undergo them can lose his or her Hajj seat,” the read in part. Th e Board further advised intending pilgrims to collect medical cards from their respective registration offi cers before going to the designated hospitals for the screening. Blueprint gathered that no fewer than 6,335 registered intending pilgrims from the state are expected to perform this year’s hajj.
