Kaduna police nab 10 suspected kidnappers, 61 others


The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 71 suspected criminals for various offences including 10 for kidnapping, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga, has said.


One locally made double barrel gun, six vehicles including a Toyota bus, a Toyota Hillux van, Toyota Corolla car, one Honda EOD and two Golf saloon cars were also recovered plus the sum of N500,000 cash, the police said. 


According to Janga, “the Command has recorded some successes within the past two weeks with the arrest of 71 suspects on different crimes and belonging to different suspected criminal gangs that terrorize citizens of the state and recovery of exhibits respectively; 10 suspects for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and kidnapping, 13 suspects for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, mischief by fire, inciting disturbance and causing grievous hurt.


“Two suspects for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, seven suspects for criminal conspiracy and theft, 23 suspects for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, thuggery, Illegal possession of firearm and having in possession of illicit drugs, four suspects for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, thuggery and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.


“Six suspects for criminal conspiracy, vandalisation, theft and receiving stolen property, five suspects for criminal conspiracy, public nuisance, smoking in public places and belonging to the gang of wandering brigands and one suspect for criminal conspiracy, shop breaking and theft.


“Exhibits recovered are, one locally made double barrel shot gun, one Toyota Bus reg. no. XB119SMN, one white Toyota Hilux reg. no. BRK 901 AA, two Golf 3 Volkswagen Saloon, one Toyota Corolla (Ash) Reg. No. BGW971RP, one Honda EOD (Ash) Reg. No. ABC 846GP the sum of N500, 000, three unregistered Boxer motorcycles, three long gas cylinders, one short cylinder with burner2 shock absorbers /other scrap iron of a burnt Sienna vehicle 


“Some vandalized implements recovered; six rolls of electric cable, some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, three plasma TV, eight sharp knives, 12 sachets of diazepam, 30 tablets of exhale, 68 tablets diazepam, five Cheque books, one pair of Army camouflage and assorted charms.”
The CP, who lauded the police officers and men in the command and people of the state for their support, stated that “the suspects are aiding investigation and will be processed through the criminal justice system accordingly. I want to reassure you of our total commitment to checkmate criminal syndicates and all forms of crimes and criminalities in the state”.
