Kaduna shouldn’t be another CAR, says CAN

Kaduna state chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday stated that the ongoing killings ravaging the state shouldn’t be allowed to be anotherCentral African Republic (CAR) where killings will be persistent.
It also condemned killing of Sheikh Mohammed Adamu Albani, a renowned Islamic scholar based in Zaria in Kaduna state.

The chairman, Bishop George Jonathan Dodo, who addressed a press conference yesterday evening, said: “The deteriorating state of insecurity of the lives and property of people living in Kaduna state, especially the southern part of the state in the recent past and the seeming inability of our security agencies to curb the trend of events has necessitated this press conference.”
Moroa and Atakad Chiefdoms have come under sustained attacks by terrorists, as they may seem to be the most affected between January 2013 and last week.

“The situation is simply unfortunate. It is a clear declaration of war against a simple and defenceless innocent people by terrorists. The gruesome attack and murder of the Zaria-based Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Albany, his wife and his son is a most condemnable act, and we condemn the killings in unequivocal terms.

“Whatever be the reasons for such wasting of lives, dialogue remains the best way to resolve our differences. We must not allow the unfortunate experience of the Central African Republic to happen to Nigeria, The genocide along religious lines does no good to anybody in that African nation.”
