Kaduna: ZUDA urges El-Rufai to probe allegation of bandits’ hideout

National chairman of Zango Urban Development Association (ZUDA), Alhaji Shehu Aminu Abdullahi, has refuted allegations by the Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), describing Zango Urban as bandits’ hideout.

In a statement in Kaduna weekend, Abdullahi described the allegations as baseless and capable of creating animosity and tension among the people of Zango.

He added that it could bring the nascent peace currently enjoyed among the people to a standstill and called on the Kaduna state government to investigate the allegation by the Atyap community.

He said the allegations are reckless and a threat to the peaceful atmosphere in the area, adding that such unguided utterances by the association is a deliberate plot to justify an imminent attack on the people of Zango Urban.

Alhaji Abdullahi said the complaint on the recent allegations was because of untold happenings from 1992 when neighbours on several occasions allegedly infringed on rights and people felt it had become necessary to debunk the recent allegations in order to prevent any further breakdown of law and order in the area.

He said: “We have never attacked or made attempt to attack the Kataf, but our community has been invaded and attacked by the Atyap militants and Zango Urban have been deserted on several occasions ever prior to 1992 scenarios in their bid to wipe out the Zango Urban from the surface of the earth,” he stated.

Alhaji Abdullahi further alleged that some weeks ago, the Atyap militants attempted to attacked the Zagon Urban community under the cover that they were searching for bandits but the quick intervention of the military doused the tension generated by the invasionl.

He challenged the Atyap to name those criminal elements in Zango Urban that provided cover for bandits in the area.
