Kalu upbeat on victory at election tribunal

A  member representing Bende federal constituency in the House of Representatives Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu has expressed confidence  that  his victory on February 23rd ,2019 National Assembly election will be confirmed  by the judiciary at the ongoing  election petition tribunal.

His victory was challenged by the PDP candidate Dr Desmond Chima Anyaso.

Kalu made this known Monday afternoon shortly after testifying before the election petitions tribunal sitting in Umuahia.

Kalu said after testifying that he is confident of retaining victory at the poll having answered all the questions posed to him by his opponent counsels. 

Also, he said facts are not hidden as to how he won the said election, stressing that he does not feel jittery on the likely outcome of the judgment at the end of the day.

Further, he said given the calibre of the members of the tribunal he is confident that the tribunal will still affirm him the winner of the said election.

He revealed that for the past seventeen years now he has contesting for the federal house ticket until luck came his way in 2019 wondering why his defeated PDP opponent cannot sheath his sword to allow him concentrate on providing dividends of democracy to the good people of Bende. 

Meanwhile, the chairman of the APC in Bende local government, Hon Josiah Jonah  said that Bende people rose in unison to vote Kalu, adding that Anyaso failed woefully even in his Igbere home stead and called on him to allow sleeping dog lie.

He commended Kalu on his efforts so far in the House of Representatives and assured that they are solidly behind his determination to safeguard the votes willingly given to have by his people.

The chairman said having monitored proceedings so far in the court, that he has no fears that justice would vindicate the just when the chips are down at the tribunal.
