The stakeholders and practitioners of the Hausa movie industry, famously known as Kannywood, are organising a victory dinner in honour of President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and all the elected candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement on Friday, one of the organisers, Aminu Saira who is a prominent film director in the industry, said Osinbajo was expected to serve as the Special Guest of Honour.
Other special guests included wives of the president and vice president, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari and Oladulapo Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, Transport Minister Rotimi Ameachie, and all top APC stalwarts.
According to Mr Sairas, the dinner, which is set for Saturday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, would also host all crème de la crème of the Hausa movie industry.
“The event is going to host all the big shots of Kannywood film industry, including Ali Nuhu, Sadiq Mafia, Abdul Amart, Halima Atete, Rukayya Dawayya and a host of other all-time stars in the industry who supported the APC throughout the electioneering exercise,” Mr Saira said.
Prominent actor, Ibrahim Maishinku, said the main motive behind organising the event was to register the name of the Hausa filmmakers in the scheme of things for national development.
He stated that the Kannywood players had done a lot with a view to supporting Buhari/Osinbajo re-election bid from the beginning to the end.
Mr Maishinku, therefore, urged the APC led-government to reciprocate the industry’s gesture by showing supports where necessary.
Blueprint reports that aside from Mr Saira, other organisers included Ibrahim Maishinku, Halima Yusuf Atete, Nuhu Abdullahi, Abdul Amart and Sadiq Mafia.
