Kano Assembly berates Jonathan over Sanusi

Kano state House of Assembly has condemned the suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Malam Lamido Sunusi, by President Goodluck Jonathan, describing it as another step by the president to weed out Kano indigenes from the federal services.

It, therefore, urged Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the emirate council and other well-meaning Nigerians to condemn the suspension of their son “because Lamido did not only prove to be competent, he has won several laurels in and outside the country.”

“We are not only taking this as another attempt by the Jonathan administration to get at our Governor who crossed over to APC from PDP, the exercise clearly shows that the Presidency is not interested in the development of the North.”
The House also called on Kwankwaso to honour Sanusi naming a popular street after him in addition to giving him rousing reception “whenever he returns home after rendering selfless services to the nation.”

“At this juncture, we equally wish to commend the Emir of Kano, Dr. Ado Bayero, for promptly condemning the suspension of Lamido Sunusi as CBN governor; the statement by the president during his media chat that Sunusi remains the CBN governor is nothing but a gimmick by the president to fool those who see him as regional and tribal champion.”
