Kano begins second round of maternal, child health week

Arrangements have been concluded for the launch of the Second Round of the 2017 Maternal, New Born and Child Health Week (MNCH) across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Speaking to news men on the one week event, state Commissioner of Health, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim Getso said services and interventions would be delivered free of charge in 39 secondary hospitals and over 1,209 primary health care centres across the local government areas of the state, involving about 7,000 personnel.
According to him, significant success was achieved during the last round of MNCH week conducted between 15th and 19th May, 2017 during which 1,741,285 children under the age of five were supplemented with Vitamin A; 998,280 given de-worming tablets, while 42,807 and 80,685 were given LLINs and malaria prevention drugs, respectively.
He however stated that all the services were provided for children and women to be provided with services that would improve their health and ensure that they have adequate immunity against diseases, protect them child killer ones in addition to improving their academic performance and allow women to deliver in sound health.
