The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on Friday turbaned his elder brother, Sanusi Ado Bayero, as the new Wanban Kano after spending about seven years on self exile in the aftermath of the appointment of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Speaking at the turbanning ceremony which was attended by eminent personalities ranging from prominent traditional title holders to prominent politicians from all walks of life, Bayero described his elder brother as “a personality of substance and a through- bred blue-blooded figure whose wealth of experience be brought to bear on ways to promote the famous Kano emirate.

He said, “Today is the right time to tell everyone that you are an exceptional figure worth your name. You are the eldest son of our late father and one each and every one of us can rely on for fatherly advice. We are pretty confident that you have possessed the capacity and ability to deliver on your newly assigned responsibility.

“What we want from you are words of advice and what it takes to use your treasured experience in propelling our revered monarchy to greater heights. We have no one like you as far as blood affiliation is concerned. To all the sons and daughters of our late father, today marks a crucial turning point in our royal history and we are ever proud of this monumental feat.”

Likewise, the emir turbaned Alhaji Aminu Babba Danagundi as the new Sarkin Dawaki Babba and also the District Head of Nassarawa in addition to regaining his lost status as one of the king makers in the famous Kano emirate
