Kano govt organises workshop for retirees

Kano state Head of Civil Service, Dr. Umar Shehu Minjibir, has opened a two-day pre-retirement workshop for civil servants who retired from public service across ministries, departments, agencies, and the local government services.
Minjibir stated that the workshop, which held recently at Murtala Muhammed Library, Kano, was designed to showcase 210 participants and was expected to expose retirees to different businesses such as poultry, fish farming, livestock production, oil milling, and block-making aimed at preparing them to stand on their feet.
According to him, government is worried about how retirees spent their gratuity unwisely and become a liability to both their relatives and friends in the service.
He added that as far payment of pension and salary of workers were concerned, “it is only Kano state across the nation that pays pensioners on the 15th of every month, as well as workers’ salary on the 25th monthly.
