Kano gov’t renovates stadium with N119m

The special adviser to the Kano state governor on Sports Development, Alhaji Ahmad Shuaibu Gara, has disclosed that a total sum of N119m is to be sunk into the renovation of the Sani Abacha Stadium.

He made this disclosure while addressing newsmen on the state government’s intention of upgrading the stadium to international ahead of the Kano Pillars CAF Champions League return leg in the ancient city.

Alhaji Gara said that already the state government had approved the sum of N110million for the execution of the projects.
According to him, the renovations works will not affect Pillars/AS Vita of Congo CAF Champions League second leg coming up on Saturday in Kano.
He further explained that the renovation work would be carried out in phases with a view to ensuring good quality work, adding that the renovation include pitch, VIP stands, Popular side, public address system, media tribune, dressing rooms, mix zone and water system, among others.

He, however, called on the people of the state to assist the state government in safeguarding the stadium in view of the fact that the renovation work would be done with tax payer’s money.

Alhaji Gara said that the state government would continue to provide conducive atmosphere for its people aimed at moving the state forward in all aspects of human endeavour.
He hoped the contractors handling the project would meet the expectations of the government.
