Kano inaugurates c’ttee on agric development

Kano state government has inaugurated a 13 member Committee of State Project Monitoring Team on Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme. Inaugurating the committee, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, explained that the scheme which was initiated by the federal government was aimed at diversifying the economy, enhancing food security as well as revolutionizing agriculture with a view to balancing economic growth and sustained income for the citizens.
The SSG enumerated government achievements in the area of agricultural development which include recruitment of 700 extension agents by KNARDA, overview of the state’s animal health sector through regular vaccination of livestock as well as credit facilities to farmers in the state. In his remarks, chairman of the committee, Alhaji Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, assured of their total commitment towards the success of the scheme.
The committee has state Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, as chairman while the Central Bank of Nigeria Head of Finance in the state, Alhaji AbDulkadir Ahmed Fàragai, is to serve as secretary to the committee. Other members include Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Aminu Garba, representative of Commodities Association, Malam Faruk Rabiu Mudi, Director General, Youth, Alhaji Ado Abba Tudun Wada, Alhaji Shehu Adamu, Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture andrepresentative from the National Directorate of Employment, Kano
