Kano LG election timetable irreversible – KANSIEC

Chairman, Kano state Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Sani Lawal Malunfashi, has said that the Commission “still stands on the date slated for the conduct of the local government council election with the possibility of further extension completely ruled out.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Kano, Malunfashi said KANSIEC was hell-bent on sticking to the timetable in the face of the persistent pressure mounted by stakeholders themselves, stressing that it would be a great disservice for KANSIEC to be forced to shift the election date.

According to him, KANSIEC is never willing to frustrate any candidate as alleged in some quarters saying no political party would ever be favoured on primordial sentiments.
He said: “We have provided a level playing field for every candidate provided that one has fulfilled the criteria stipulated by KANSIEC. We are doing a thorough job.  You should also note that the issue of window dressing would not play out here.”
“You should also understand that KANSIEC and you will not get what we want, we have to make necessary sacrifice so as not to jeopardize the good chance we have.  Sacrifice is absolutely necessary.”
