Kano NIS inaugurates personnel training resource centre

International Organisation for Migration(IOM) Wednesday in Kano handed over the newly built personnel training resource centre(PTRC)at the state headquarters of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Kano, for officers who had little knowledge of ICT  to be better equipped with the e-learning platforms for enhanced productivity.

Speaking while commissioning the centre at the command’s headquarters in  Kano, the Comptroller-General, Nigerian Immigration Service, Alhaji Muhammad Babandede, said the project was a product of the avowed commitment of the leadership of the Service towards the development of the capacity of officers and men of the service.

He said the major milestone in that regard was that  630 officers had undergone training in Calabar and State Headquarters Personnel Training Resource Centres since the training commenced in April, 2019 while the performance evaluation of the centres at the states’ headquarters and Calabar showed that the project has recorded tremendous success.

Babandede, who was represented by the Acting Deputy Comptroller, Nigerian Immigration Service, Human Resources Management, Ishaka A. Haliru, however, stated that the learning management system deployed at the centres has offered the officers  with little ICT knowledge, the opportunity to be better equipped with  the e-learning platforms.

He called on officers and men of the Command to take advantage of the state of the art Centre and participate actively in the training which was aimed to focus attention on core immigration duties and contemporary migration trends.

Speaking earlier, a representative of IOM,  Mrs. Y. Nnwosu, said personnel training resource centres were created for the new comprehensive curriculum, fully compliant and complimentary with the existing NIS educational and training programmes aiming to reach all NIS officers for boosting their capacity to conduct their demanding role as gate keepers of the country.
