Kano police arraign lawyer, 3 others over N45m ‘fraud’

Kano state Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arraigned a Kano-based lawyer, Barrister Hassan Tanko Kyaure, and three others for allegedly conspiring to sell a house worth N4 million belonging to his client.

Arraigning them before a senior magistrate, Hassan Ahmad, the police prosecutor Sgt Haziel Lidafuwa, informed the court that Hassan Kyaure was on November 8, 2013, alleged to have criminally conspired with Suleiman Musa, Hajiya Maryam Sagir and Sabo Idris and forged seal a deal of assignment consent to assigned right of occupancy.

According to the police first information report, the house that was already sold by the complainant to Alhaji Shehu Isyaku through his wife Hajiya Hadiza Shehu Isyaku was still sold to one Alhaji Baba Kassim.
He said the offences contravened Sections 96, 322 and 364 of the Penal Code Law, respectively.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Meanwhile, the court granted bail to the accused with N500, 000 for each with two reliable sureties, one of whom must be a relation of trio, while Kyaure must present evidence that he paid his three years practising fees to the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).
The case was, thereafter, adjourned to February 27, for further mention.
