Kano

Kano state government has vowed commitment to overcome the persistent shortage of water in the metropolitan areas of the state.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Usman Sule Riruwai, made the vow during an inspection visit to Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant, saying that the state government had concluded arrangements to partner with foreign agencies to turn around the entire water works in the state.
He said the government had rolled out a five-year plan for the development of the state’s water sector, adding that “very soon a water law will be enacted in the state which will pave way for the transformation of water supply.”
The commissioner, who was represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Hajiya Bilkisu Waziri, expressed delight over the capacity of the treatment plant, which, according to him, “is working.”
She commended the company supplying the treatment plant with aluminium sulphate, Drury Industries, assuring that the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration would not relent on its efforts to provide potable drinking water.
