Kano varsity set to begin research, teaching in pharmacy

Teaching, research and other academic activities in the field of pharmacy will soon commence at Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, even as the Technical Committee on Strategies and Plans for establishment of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has submitted its report to the vice-chancellor, Prof. Shehu Alhaji Musa.

While receiving the report, the vice-chancellor gave the assurance that all the recommendations of the Committee would be judiciously considered.

In a press statement in Kano Friday, the vice-chancellor, represented by the deputy vice-chancellor, Administration, Prof. Tijjani Saleh Bichi, appreciated all members of the Committee for their dedication in the course of carrying out their assignment.

He urged them to respond favourably to the university’s request for such assistance whenever the need arises.

Earlier, the co-chair of Committee, Prof. Lawan Alhassan Bichi, said the Committee had worked tirelessly, made contacts, consultations and studied relevant materials that led to the production of a comprehensive report.

He thanked the vice-chancellor for giving them opportunity to serve the state and expressed readiness to render necessary contributions in future.

In a remark, the registrar, Aminu Bello Muhammad, commended the co-chairmen and committee members, adding that they were chosen based on their individual qualifications, experience and professionalism.

According to him, their work will create an avenue for the training of younger generation in the field of pharmacy-related disciplines.

The Committee co-chaired by Prof. Lawan Alhassan Bichi and Pharm. Ibrahim Ahmad Yakasai was made up of academics, professionals with long standing experience.
