KAROTA impounds 150 unregistered drugs in Kano

The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has  impounded  over 150 cartons of unregistered drugs suspected to be Potwin and 30 cartons of Janify Caftarian injection allegedly smuggled into Kano worth over N20 million naira.

In a press statement in Kano, Monday , the managing director, Alhaji  Baffa Babba Dan-Agundi, told journalists in Kano that 150 cartons of Potwin and Janify Caftarian injection were confiscated during the operation by the   KAROTA  operatives.

Dan’agundi, who did not disclose where the illicit injections were seized, stated that his agency would not relent in the fight against illegal import or stocking of unregistered drugs and expired food.

“We confiscated over 150 cartons Potwin injections which are manufactured specially for surgery in hospitals and often misused by drug abusers as well as 30 more cartons of Janify Caftarian injections worth over N20m.”

He said the agency would continue to fight importation of dangerous and hard drugs and intensify efforts to arrest and prosecute offenders.

He said, “the agency would however reward anybody that brought genuine information about such illegal act to KAROTA and would offer full fortress to the person afterwards.”

The managing director  called on the public to provide useful information to the agency to arrest and prosecute offenders.
