Kastina secures 170 hectares for Funtua Garment

Katsina state government has secured one hundred and seventy hectares of land for the Funtua Garment and Textile cluster.

The state deputy governor, Mannir Yakubu, said this Thursday when he visited the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Yelwaji Katagum, in Abuja.

He said the state is the major producer of cotton in Nigeria hence the need for partonising the product for the development of micro and small medium enterprises, saying that modalities have been laid for increased cotton production in the state.

In his address, the minister  said Funtua Garment and Textile cluster project is a priority project to the federal government.

He commended the state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, for his efforts to ensure it takes off.

Meanwhile, the state deputy governor was also at the headquarters of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) on advocacy for the development of SMEs in the state.

He said the agency had played a greater role in the area of entrepreneurship training for youths and women in the state.

The deputy governor called on the director- general of the agency, Dr Umar Dikko Radda, to involve the state in his various entrepreneurship development projects.

Responding, the SMEDAN DG said Katsina state can compete in international standard on skills development, being one of the states that has mega skills acquisition center meant for skill training.

He pledged to conduct more entrepreneurship trainings for the people of the state.

Other places visited by the deputy governor and SME council members include Cooperate Affairs Commission to seek for ways of easing entrepreneurship businesses in the state.
