Katsina: 9 Nigeriens rescued from kidnappers’ den

The Katsina state government in collaboration with security agencies has rescued nine citizens of Niger Republic that were abducted from their village by dare-devil kidnappers.

Receiving the rescued persons, Governor Aminu Bello Masari disclosed that since the rescue of Kankara students, the state government saw a window of opportunity being used to rescue other kidnap victims.

Masari further disclosed that within seven days they were able to rescue at least 200 kidnap victims, vowing that the state would not relent until all those kidnapped were rescued.

He similarly insisted that there was no dialogue between government and the bandits, adding that security agencies were in the forest doing their job.

The governor stated that the nine Nigerien rescued would be treated before they would be sent back to their village in Niger Republic.

Masari commended the efforts of security agencies in the fight against banditry and other criminality in the state.

Earlier, while speaking one of the rescue, the victims who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that they were kidnapped in Bima village in the state of Maradi in Niger Republic.

He added “we have seen hell as we were subjected to constant beating by our captors. We thank God that we were rescued”.

 The victim said for nine days of their kidnap they never for once saw sunlight until the day of their rescue.

“We thank the Almighty Allah and the government of Katsina state for the successful rescue,” the victims, who included three women, five men and a year child, stated.
