Katsina govt generated N8.1bn in 2013

Katsina state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Lawal Jari, has said that the state generated over N8.117 billions internal generated revenue in 2013.
Jari disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the activities of his ministry, saying that the figure was against N3.2 billion generated in 2012.
According to him, in January, this year, the government has generated N700 million as revenue an improvement over N130 million generated December, last year.

He said internal revenue in the state improve following some measures introduced by the state government which included enhancement of welfare for staff of board of internal revenue and procurement of vehicles to the board to reach all nooks and crannies of the state.
Other measures were the establishment of six revenue collection centres, as well as training and re-training of staff.
Jari explained that government found it necessary to improve its internal revenue to minimise overdependence on federation account, adding that thegovernment would continue to adopt more measure to boost its internal revenue.

Jari, who commended staff of the Board of Internal Revenue for performing to government expectation, called on people in the state to ensure prompt payment of tax into the coffers of the state government.

On the performance of the 2013 budget, he said the government had implemented the budget to the level of 83 per cent which was the first in the history of the state, adding that in the near future the state’s generated revenue would pay all salaries of workers.
