Katsina: Masari canvasses monarchs’ support on education

 

Katsina state Governor Aminu Bello Masari has reiterated his commitment to the development of education in the state, canvassing the support of traditional rulers to widen the boundaries of the sector in the state.

The governor said  his second term would witness a more robust intervention than the first term.

He said,  “The traditional institution has a huge role to play in the reversal of the rot that has defined the state of education in Katsina, noted for its prime position in educational advancement in the northern part of Nigeria.”

Director General Media to the governor, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, quoted the governor as giving the assurance in a statement Sunday, at the formal reception for Galadiman Katsina and District Head of Malumfashi, Justice Saddik Abdullahi Mahuta, rtd.

 “To restore the state to that lofty position, he said foundation education would continue to receive his administration’s attention, asserting that once primary and secondary levels education is assured further levels would be a shoo-in.”

Governor Masari spoke yesterday in Malumfashi during the formal reception for Galadiman Katsina and District Head of Malumfashi, Justice Saddik AbdulLahi Mahuta, rtd.

While acknowledging the enormity of the challenges facing education in the state, the governor said; “It’s nevertheless not insurmountable, especially with the support and wise counsel of people like the new Galadiman Katsina, saying that with the right attitude from the traditional institution, a lot of ground will be covered in all the sub sectors of the economy.”

He said the APC-led administration had spent over 11 billion on the improvement of infrastructure for primary and secondary schools during his first term, stating that  no nation can develop above the level of the education of its citizens.

Governor Masari also called for constant prayers for leaders instead of insulting  them, saying that a society is only as good as its leaders.

The governor  advised the Galadiman Katsina to make good use of his position as district head to advance the interest of the citizens of the district and the Galadunchi dynasty, urging him to always be proactive in advancing and protecting his people’s interests.

“You must always identify with the joy and sadness, gains and loss of your people, and focus on uniting them. 

“Do not give room, ears and time for rumours and gossip. These are vices enemies of the people will try to employ to achieve their selfish interests to the detriment of the larger society.”
