KAZOBA urges FG to build new poly in Jigawa

To re-claim their alma mata, the old students of Government Secondary School, Kazaure which was taken over by the federal government and converted to a Federal Polytechnic about 20 years ago has urged government to build a new polytechnic and return the school to Jigawa state Ministry of Education.

The old students spoke through ex-Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs service (NCS), Alhaji Tajo Usman, while addressing the old students during the 50th anniversary of the school (1970 –2020) and the launching of N50million endowment appeal fund for the construction of KAZOBA Center for Excellence which will consist of multipurpose conference hall, CBT and Information and Communication Technology (CIT).

The event took place at the national secretariat of the association.

He said the school was built by the old Kano state government’s money, hence the need for construction of a new polytechnic, and that the school should revert back to the status quo.

He added that the essence of the anniversary was to state the intention and need for the old students to re-claim the school and revert it to boarding school for posterity to benefit from its contribution to educational development in the country.
He said: “I see no reason why the whole structure of Government Secondary School, Kazaure was taken over by the federal government without compensation. We need the school to revert back to its former name.”
