Kebbi APC ready for Oct 26 LG poll – Official

The Kebbi state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it will field fielded candidates for the 21 chairmanship and 225 councillorship positions at the forthcoming local government council elections slated for October 26.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Birnin Kebbi, the state public relations officer, Alhaji Sani Dododo, said the party had successfully conducted its primary elections a cross the 21local government areas for the elective positions.

Dododo said the party has equally followed all the electoral procedures and the laid down rules by the State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIEC).

He expressed optimism that the party would win in a landslide, adding that the APC-led government in the state has done remarkably well in delivering its campaign promises to the electorate while many other meaningful projects were still underway.

He said most of the candidates fielded were people of proven integrity and those embraced by their people, saying: “We allowed people to choose them by themselves; there was no interference from the party or the government.”

He, therefore, appealed to party loyalists and the electorate in general to come out en masse to exercise their civic right as well as vote for the party of their choice on the day of the election.

Efforts to secure comments on the level of preparedness from the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Public Relations Officer, Malam Ibrahim Umar Ummai, proved abortive as he was not at the party’s secretariat when our correspondent visited just as calls put across to him were not responded to as at the time of going to press.
