Kebbi distributes100m bags of grain to flood victims



Food items worth over 100 million naira has been procured by the Kebbi state government for onward distribution to last year’s flood victims across the state.

Delivering the items to the District Head of Ambursa, Alhaji Isah Haruna Rasheed, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Mohammadu Maccido said that the gesture was to assist the victims who counted loses as a result of the disaster.

The commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Lawal Mohammad Arugungu, said the assorted grains to be distributed include maize, millet and guinea corn to provide a succour to the victims.


He explained further that each of the 21 local government council will received not less than 300 bags each to be shared across the 225 wards in the state.

He said the state Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has done their bit by giving them mattresses, rice and other items, while the Ministry of Agriculture purchase grains in order to alleviate their sufferings.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after receiving the items, the district head of Ambursa Alhaji Isah, Haruna Rasheed thanked the governor for assisting the affected flood victims in the state and  assured the grains would be judiciously shared.

In his remark, a community leader, Alhaji Aliyu Ambursa who expressed satisfaction over the gesture assured  government of effective delivery of the items to the affected victims.
