Kebbi: Idris threatens sack of corrupt, lazy civil servants

 

Kebbi state governor, Dr Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) has warned the state civil servants to brace themselves up for maximal productivity or be ready to face disciplinary action.

The governor, who gave the warning at the swearing-in of three top functionaries of the government at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Monday, made it clear that corrupt or lazy civil servants would be thrown out of the service.

They are the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala (Tafidan Yauri); Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena; and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barrister Attahiru Maccido.

The governor was emphatic that corrupt, lazy or civil servants found wanting in the discharge of their duties would be sent packing.

He said the three officials have track record of achievement well known to the public and mandated them to begin work immediately, according to the schedule of their offices.

The governor added that his administration would only appoint persons with experience in the scheme of things, assuring that the government would do everything humanly possible to be just and fair to the people of Kebbi state.

Dr Idris reaffirmed his commitment to run an open and all-inclusive administration without creating any vacuum but warned that those who could not add value to the system would be replaced.

The governor gave an assurance that the problems of teachers and local governments would be addressed while other officials of government, including special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants would be appointed soon.

He announced that the incumbent administration welcome constructive criticisms without discrimination in the running of government, assuring that his campaign promises would be fulfilled.

Kebbi state acting Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar administered the oath of office on the SSG, the Head of Service and the Chief of Staff under the supervision of Governor Nasir Idris.

The acting Grand Qadi of the state, Dr. Tukur Sani Argungu was in attendance at the ceremony.
