Kebbi NYSC orientation camp renovation to gulp N50m

Kebbi state government has commenced the renovation of all dilapidated structures estimated to gulp over N50 million at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, Dakingari.

 State coordinator of the scheme, Mr. Usman Barde,  said  the contractor has since mobilised to site and work is going on simultaneously while the officials in of the scheme are putting an eagle eye on the contractor in order to ensure only good job is offered as directed by the government.

Barde who made this known to newsmen Wednesday shortly after the end of the 2019 ‘Batch B Stream 2 orientation programme for members deployed to the state for the  mandatory service year, said the deplorable condition of various structures in the camp has hindered many activities as well as development.

He stated that if the ongoing renovation of facilities in the camp is completed, it would upgrade camp capacity to 3,000 which will reduce accommodation problems and provide conducive environment for induction and training of corps members.

The NYSC coordinator also appealed to the state government to extend the renovation project to all corper’s lodge spread across the state. He gave assurance that the NYSC in the state will double its efforts to use the abundant human resources at its disposal to contribute to the development of the state.

In his speech, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu  represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Alhaji Garba Hussaini Mungadi, promised that the state government will endeavour to support  the welfare needs and safety of corps members throughout the service year.

He urged them to familiarise themselves with all the relevant security agencies and traditional rulers in their various places of their community’s primary assignment.
