KEDCO seeks regional managers, security partnership on power distribution

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has advocated the need for sustainable collaboration between regional managers and security agencies in stemming the tide of illegal activities impeding the growth and development of the power distribution outfit in the  quest for efficient distribution.

In a communiqué’ issued by KEDCO at the end of a stakeholders’ engagement organised for all the divisional police officers and chairmen of 44 local government areas of Kano state and made available to news men in Kano yesterday,  KEDCO said collaboration with local government administrators and the police will improve sustainable power supply.

The communiqué urged KEDCO to organise sensitisation engagement for the transformer committee chairmen across the coverage areas, adding that customers due for disconnection should be notified duly via SMS.

It however stated that there is the need for security intervention in safeguarding KEDCO’s installations in the aspects of destruction of distribution transformers, drain of transformer oil, theft of aluminium conductors, illegal connection, hanging wires meter bypass among others.

The communiqué added that  there is the need for  local government chairmen to sensitize their communities that KEDCO is no longer NEOA  and that the change in perception will make a significant contribution in making them realized the need to partner with KEDCO  towards payment of bills for sustainable power supply.

The communiqué also revealed that KEDCO had requested the Local Government Chairmen to assist the Company in discouraging people from building under high tension as well as to stop allocating land under high tension as it has both regulatory   and health implications to members of communities.
