Keep zoning out of Jema’a

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Central Zone Forum in Jema’a Local Government recently published membership composition of the Kaduna State House of Assembly. The chairman of the forum, one Alhaji Garba Namata, raised issues with the zoning of the House of Assembly seat to the Central Zone of the local government; this he said was agreed upon at the end of a meeting purportedly held by stakeholders to settle the zoning issue that has been rocking the PDP members in the area.

He claimed that the Kafanchan Zone, which is the Central Zone in Jema’a Local Government Area, is made up of Kafanchan A & B wards, Maigizo ward, Takau ward and Kaninkon ward and that in the meeting the ticket of the House of Assembly for the local government, was zoned to the Central Zone because other zones had completed their tenure and the next on the line would the Central Zone.
The forum is hereby challenged to publish the names of these purported stakeholders that attended the meeting and the venue of the meeting so as to convince us on the credibility of that meeting. By the way, when has zoning become a problem in Jema’a Local Government as all elections in the local government had been peaceful till date?

The forum wants to distort history by stating that Godogodo and Kagoma zones had completed their tenure, but they need to be reminded that Hon. Gideon Morik is from Central Zone and has represented Jema’a in the House of Assembly for eight years (1999-2007). How can they justify their claims of being the next on line?

This forum is only trying to overheat the polity or may be doing the biding of their paymaster(s). They should be told that this is not the time for any of these. We cannot be talking politics when we are faced with serious security challenges.
The PDP Central Zone Forum should channel its energy along with every other responsible citizen of the local government, Southern Kaduna Senatorial zone and the nation generally to find lasting solution to the security challenge in Southern Kaduna and other affected areas, because without peace and security of lives and property, no sane person can talk about zoning and the likes.
