‘Kidnapped Appeal court judge was travelling to see hubby’

Justice Chioma Nwosu of the Benin Division of APPeal court was heading to Owerri, Imo State to visit her ‘hubby’ when she was abducted by a four gunmen, Blueprint has learnt.

A source at the court who spoke under condition of anonymity described the Judge as a good woman adding that she was taken hostage at about 12pm Wednesday along  Benin Agbor road.

According to the source, She (Justice Nwosu) normally travel to Owerri to see her husband every Friday after court sitting and return on Sunday.

“But, she decided to travel today (Wednesday) because there will be no sitting on Thursday.

Continuing, the source said: “a voltrun SUV emerged from nowhere at a bad spot on the road and pulled over at the judge vehicle.

“So, her driver attempted to meander through the narrow part of the road that was how they (gunmen) rained bullets on the tire of the vehicle and on the police orderly.

“The police orderly, Inspector A. I. Momoh  who sat in the front of the Judge SUV was shot in his eyes.

“The gunmen thereafter whisked justice Nwosu  Iheme whisked away”.

The Edo State police command spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, adding that the incident occurred at about 11.30 am, along Benin-Agbor express way.

“Immediately, the police operatives of Ikpoba Hill divisional police headquarters, the tactical team of Edo state command and other relevant sections swung into action, but unfortunately, they (gunmen) got away with her.

“Investigation is ongoing and by the grace of God, Justice Chioma Nwosu will be rescued unhurt,” he said.
