Kidnapped Ondo traditional head, 4 others regain freedom

The traditional chief of Ikare Akoko in Akoko North-East local government of ondo state, Mukaila Bello, Adeniran Adeyemo, Bashiru Adekile and Chief Gbafinro, kidnapped by gunmen along Owo-Ikare expressway Thursday, have regained their freedom.

A source who pleaded anonymity told Blueprint that the victims were released on Owo-Ikare road on Saturday evening.

The source said, “The victims who were kidnapped on Thursday evening, were released on Saturday evening on Owo-Akoko road and they have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the development but said she was yet to get the details of how they were released.

Speaking also on the development, the Owa-Ale of Ikare Akoko, Oba Adeleke Adegbite-Adedoyin expressed joy over the release of his abducted High Chief and his other subjects.

Oba Adegbite Adedoyin appreciated the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, his cabinet members and all security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the victims.
