Kidnapped priests: Sokoto Catholic diocese calls for prayers

The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has called for prayers for the safety and quick release of two priests kidnapped Friday while on a Diocesan function in Kaduna.
The call was contained in a statement by the Communications Director, Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Fr. Chris Omotosho.

"We enjoin the entire people of God to faithful join hands in praying for the safety and quick release of out priests. 

"We also pray for the true conversion of  and God's mercy on hardened criminals, kidnappers & bandits. May Our Lady, Mother of Perpetual Help intercede for us. Amen," the statement read in part.

According to the communication director, "On a sad note, we announce the kidnapping of one of us, Rev. Fr. Donatus Cleophas Sulaiman, parish priest of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Shagari Low-cost, Katsina state. Fr Donatus Cleophas is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan working in the Diocese of Sokoto ( Fidei Donum).
"He was kidnapped along with Rev. Fr. John Mark Chietnum, also of Kafanchan Diocese at the Parish Rectory of Christ the King Catholic Church, Yalding Garu, Lee L. G. A., Kaduna State, at about 5:15pm of today, Friday 15/07/2022, as they were on a Diocesan function."
