Kidnappers release 5 in Niger after collecting N1.7m ransom


Five persons kidnapped in Avu of Gupa – Abugi community in Lapai Local government of Niger state have been released by their abductors after payment of N1.7m ransom.


The victims reportedly regain freedom yesterday being Sunday by 1am  regained their freedom after paying N1.7 million random.


One of the freed victims who spoke on condition of anonymity on his ordeal explained that they were accompany by the kidnappers to the backyard of their village before setting them  free at about 1am.


According to him,  “We were taken across river gurara into Kogi state before they negotiated with our families.”


He said that the criminals dash them N10,000 from the ransom collected to enable them buy slippers shoes.


He said that they were kept in a cave throughout their abduction after walking for hours throughout that night of the incident and guarded strictly in captivity.

He gave thanks to God for saving his life from the kidnappers expressing appreciation to family and well wishes for their prayers.


The gunmen had on Thursday stormed  Avu in Gupa- Abugi ward of Lapai local government area of Niger state where 5 persons were abducted while one person was killed.
