Kidnapping: Garaku police rescue 4 victims

Garaku Police Division, in the neighboring Nasarawa state, has disclosed that there was kidnapping between Agwan Mayo and Sabon Gida villages, where four key personalities of the society were kidnapped.

Police sources said the next day, the Divisional police Officer (DPO), SP Zamdam Abdulbaqi Inua, led a team of police with the local vigilante and trough the efforts of the Fulani vigilantes, they were able to trail the kidnappers and track them at the height of the Agwan Mayo Mountain.

Blueprint gathered that there was stern gun battle between the two parties as the former had to discard the victims and took to their heels. The victims were rescued.

The items recovered from the kidnappers included AK 47 magazine rifles fully loaded.

Top police personnel told Blueprint that Zandam had already arranged with the community leaders and other stakeholders to hold security meetings monthly to fine-tune ways of checkmating insecurity within and around the locality.

“The Garaku area as you may be aware is a very sensitive one; there is a major high way leading to Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and if one is from FCT, he or she must pass through the area, so by its topography, some bad people wants to take advantage and perpetrate crime; the DPO is on his toes to stem the tide.

“What makes us happy always is that whenever the community leaders are summoned for a meeting at the instance of the division, they do not hesitate coming to share their ideas on how security can be best improved upon; even the Fulani herdsmen are now giving useful information to the police; therefore we hope this is progress,” said an official.
