Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki, is set to meet the National Security Adviser, Maj- Gen. Babagana Mongonu, over the spate of kidnapping and other security challenges in the state.
Violent crime in the state took a worrisome dimension in the last three weeks, following the killing of three policemen guarding the Ogba Zoological Garden as well as the abduction of the facility’s Executive Director, Mr. Andy Ehanire.
Obaseki, who fielded questions from newsmen at the Government House, Benin City yesterday, said the meeting with the NSA would provide the opportunity for him to discuss areas of security collaboration.
He disclosed that the meeting will raise the bar in intelligence
gathering and proactive surveillance in the state, saying the Nigerian Army had since deployed its personnel to areas where the crimes were committed, as well as other flashpoints to forestall reoccurrence.
