Kidnapping: Police to establish additional division in Benin


As part of efforts to curtail the menace of kidnappings on the Benin-Lagos expressway, the Edo xtate Police command has approved the establishment of additional police division at Ugbogui, Ovia South West local government area of the state.


Besides, a new army post/unit at Iguobazuwa would compliment efforts of other security agencies to checkmate activities of hoodlums.


Chairman of the LG, Comrade Destiny Enabulele disclosed this during his mid-term performance report in Iguobazuwa.
Enabulele the development arises from his visits to heads of security agencies to present the council’s challenges before them.


He said the council is in constant touch with accredited vigilant groups that compliment effors of security agencies in over 25 communities across the LG.


According to him, “to this end, eight high-powered motorcycles have been distributed to aid security operations.”


Continuing, Enabulele said the council has aligned with governor Goodwin Obaseki’s desire to fast-track the economic development of the State by setting up an economic team headed by Prof. Milton Iyoha.


He said the council will therefore hold its first “Economic Summit” next month where according to him, the “best brains are expected to contribute to modern techniques geard towards revamping the economy.”
