Killing: court sentences man, 33, to death in Osun


Justice kudirat Akano of an Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo the state capital, on Tuesday, sentenced a 33 years old man, Mutiu Rasak, to death by hanging for killing one Kehinde Adesina.


The convict was arraigned on January 31, 2018 on eight counts charge ls bordering on conspiracy, murder, assault, cultism, among other. 


The Prosecutor from the Ministry of Justice, Wuraola Ogunfolabi, told the court that the convict committed the crime on November 18, 2015 at about 8pm at Abaku Area, Osogbo. 


He said the convict led some cultists, now at large, and attacked some people in the area. 

According to the prosecution, the convict also shot one Kehinde Adesina and Wale Makinde. He said while the former died, the later’s finger was cut with axe. 


The prosecution called three witnesses and tendered five exhibits during the trial. 


Counsel to the convict, Wemimo W. O., prayed the court to be lenient in sentencing the convict, saying he can still be useful to the society. 


Justice Akano struck out three counts and convicted him on five count. She sentenced the convict to seven years imprisonment and twenty years for cultism. 


The Judge also pronounced death sentence for the convict on murder.
