Killing of 3 in Bassa, condemnable – Maitala

A House of Representative member, Haruna Maitala, has described last Monday’s killing of three persons in his constituency as inhuman.

Maitala, a member representing Jos North/Bassa constituency, in a press release he personally signed, said the recent attack by gunmen was saddening and condemnable.

“The recent attack that led to the killing of three persons in Irigwe land by unknown gunmen on Monday was, to say the least, very saddening, most especially at a time when a peace meeting was held between the Irigwe, Fulani and all other relevant stakeholders within the Miango general area,” he said.

He said the unwarranted attack on innocent people is not only condemnable but inhuman.

“I am furthermore of the firm belief that dialogue is the best way to amicably resolve differences, rather than violent means among people that are bound together by God,” he added.

Maitala said people should see themselves with common humanity created by God to co-exist and strive to prosperity.

He said embracing the path of peace is the only option to  peaceful living, “which I hope we will see reasons to adhere to”.

He commiserated with the immediate family members of the one man and two women that were killed while also appealing for calm and restoration of normalcy and peace in the entire community.
