Killing of innocent Nigerians, senseless, unacceptable-NAWOJ

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has condemned the barbaric killing of innocent Rice farmers in Zabamari  of Mafa Local Government Area of Borno state.

NAWOJ in a statement by the National President, Ladi Bala, and the National Secretary, Helen Udofa, in Abuja, said the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians in any part of the country was totally unacceptable and must be checked and stopped decisively.

The women journalists particularly expressed concerns over the increasing spate of insecurity and constant threat to lives of Nigerians across the country and called for renewed efforts to make the states particularly the North-east region safe again.

It read in part, “The incessant killings have rendered many women to an untimely widowhood life with it’s attendant consequences on the future of their children and the society, a development that spells doom for the future.”

NAWOJ while commiserating with the government and the people of Borno state over the inhuman, ugly, unfortunate incident, appealed to Governor Babagana Zulum to give appointment to widows of the deceased appointment as alternative source of income to alleviate their sufferings.

The Association welcomed the Marching Order by President Muhammadu Buhari to the military to take the battle to the enclave of the terrorists and appealed to the military and other security agencies to, as a matter of national interest and concerns, step up their fight against terrorists and bandits in the country.

The battle, NAWAOJ said must be won for Nigerians and for a better Nigeria.
