Killings: Kaduna govt engages army, police for improved security

The Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufai, has said that his administration has engaged the Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor, and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, for improvements in security of the state.

El-Rufai, while condoling with those that lost their loved ones, sued for calm, noting that the state government has engaged with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, and there would be improvements in the security of the state.

The governor also directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to assess damages at Warkan Village and provide relief materials to the affected citizens.

El-Rufai in a press statement by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, Friday, condemned the rampant killings in Zangon Kataf, Chikun and Igabi local government.

He urged the families of the missing youth to be patient as security agencies are investigating the incidences.

According to the statement, security agencies had previously reported killings of citizens in Kibori, Katsit and Afana in Zangon Kataf local government area, and Amana Kasuwa of Igabi LGA before reporting the killing of nine persons, Friday, at Warkan Village of Zangon Kataf LGA, and one person at Kakkau area of Chikun LGA.

“The governor has been receiving hourly briefings from action agencies on the attack at Warkan village in Zangon Kataf LGA, as well as the general security situation in the state.

“The governor had on Thursday and Friday interfaced with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor, and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.”
