Killings: Plateau corps members won’t be withdrawn – NYSC

Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen Suleiman Kazaure, has assured corps members in Plateau that the scheme will do its best to protect them and not withdraw those serving in the  state.

He stated this yesterday while declaring open the 2018 NYSC protocol officers workshop at Rockview Hotel, Abuja, adding that the scheme has plans on ground to ensure the safety of corps members’ lives.

The DG, who was represented by the Director, Planning, Statistics and Research, Mrs Victoria Okakwu, said the scheme as a responsible agency will within its ability ensure the safety of all corps members across the country.

He also said the situation in Plateau and other states in the North Central would be handled the same way it responded to that in the North East

“We do not withdraw corps members but we have plans which we can not disclose because security plans are not discussed in the open,” he said.

Declaring the workshop open, the DG said its protocol officers across the country were being trained to enhance their operational efficiency in the scheme.

He said that the training was in furtherance of management commitment to enhance the competence of staff for efficiency.

He revealed that the peculiar nature of NYSC operations made it necessary for the scheme to stage various events, including training for protocol officers that would help meet the yearnings of the people.

Kazaure said that training and re-training of staff for optimal performance and productivity remained the focal areas of his administration.
