Kogi state is in dire need of a leader that will fight the symmetric and assymmetric warefare of the people and bring modernity to our state.We need a leader that will bring to our state, a new type of politics dispensation because Kogi state did not just happen by historical accident. The state was created by the efforts of men and women of vision, who believed prior to the creation of our dear Kogi state that we have the potential of being regarded as one of the greatest states in our country. When Kogi state was created by these men and women of great vision and resolve, we thought that our state by now should have been built by this product of conscious statecraft and not by happenstance which our leaders have made us to believe.
Kogi state building effort, we now should understand, is always a work in progress, a dynamic process in constant need of nurturing and reinvention. The problem has always been that of leadership because Kogi state building should never stop and true state building never rests as states are constantly facing up to new challenges. The leader Kogi state now needs to confront the challenge of leadership deficiency frontally and lead us to the way to development in all its physicality is Aminu Suleman Abubakar.
Kogi state in reality today needs a leader in the mould of Aminu Suleman, a self made man, whose time has come to deliver the state from the hands of the kleptomanic leadership that has held the state hostage developmental for a very long time. Suleman is a man whose achievements are already written in the stars and is ready to replicate this feat for the state. He is a man whose leadership qualities in the quantity surveying industry are acknowledged by all and sundry. For a man to be successful in the professional aspect of the quantity surveying industry, the issues of leadership ability, personal charisma and penache are of immense importance. Aminu Suleman comes along as a professional who gave his all to achieve his vision. He is a professionals’ professional who has the driving mentality which is missing in many leaders to turn his dreams and that of Kogi state into reality just as he has done in the quantity surveying field. He is a man always ready to take painful decisions if neccessary and swallow the bitter pills to achieve the dreams he has set for himself
Kogi state needs a leader in the mould of Aminu Suleman with the attributes of steadfastness in pursuit of goals and flexibility in determining how best to achieve it. He has the courage to make hard decision and stay with it and explain it; the common sense to listen to others and involve them. The leader we are talking about is Aminu Suleman. He is a leader that would admit it when a mistake is made and when a given policy is not working. He is a leader that will trust others, trust his instincts as well as his intellect. He is a leader that if the objective is to get things done on a matter that is important as well as controversial, he will be able to compromise and knows the line he cant cross.That is the leader he is and shall always be.
Aminu Suleman learnt when he was young to respect the human dignity of everyone he met, to observe them closely and listen to them carefully. From the adults in his family, he learnt that everyone has a story but not everyone can tell it. He also learnt that most of our society and states problems are self inflicted and leaders have the responsibilities to ask questions and resolve it. Aminu Suleman knows we have in Kogi state problems that are self inflicted and he is equipped to admit and resolve them..
He believes that after so many years of Kogi state’s creation, our state has not been able to move forward because the leadership has failed to deliver good governance, life touching projects and infrastructural development, peace and political cohesion. He believes the state may have been forsaken by God and needs to be redirected to God. Statistics have shown that Kogi state’s industrial policy has failed and has been derailed by its leadership and needs resuscitation so that the many abandoned industries in the state will get back to running again. In the infrastructural level, he knows that as we speak, many road projects in the state have been abandoned and many local governments have not seen state roads project for a long time.He shall complete all abandoned road projects and construct new roads in all the local governments of the state to give the people development in its physicality they can see.
Aminu Suleman stands for trustworthiness, forthrightness and commitment to good governance when elected governor in Kogi state. He is the epitome of the new type of politics dispensation our people have long craved for. He is also going to be a governor with the perfect blend of knowledge, reliability and simplicity, which are the epitome of good leadership. Candidates may emerge in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who display his attributes to a lesser or greater degree but none can achieve his perfections. He is no philosopher king but it can be observed that Aminu Suleman possesses a sincere disposition to lead well, a disposition to serve the people and the political will to stay with the people at all times because governance is about the people.
He is a member of the PDP, a party that brought many promises to our people while it held sway in the state. But today, even out of power in the state, the party has after thorough introspection discovered that leadership failed the people. And the party admittedly and after the self review are convinced that it has put its house in order and needs a leader that by his track records has all the ingredients to move the state forward.That leader is Aminu Suleman. His economic blueprint shall be about the people and for the people. He shall pursue this economic blueprint vigorously and pragmatically in partnership arrangement meant to harness the abundant natural resources and the reviving of all abandoned hitherto flourishing government enterprises in order to create employment for our people.
He shall be the governor that will harness the human resource of Kogi state and he shall make the payment of salary and pensions top priority. He shall make a painstaking reforms of the state wage systems a priority. The non-payment of backlog of salaries of workers is a sad narrative of the failures of this government and he shall address them and pay the new minimum wage. Suleman as a welfarist shall treat our senior citizens who have put in years to the service of the state well by prompt payment of their pensions.
The PDP in Kogi state should look no further for a candidate who has the political strength to outlast the APC in the November gubernatorial elections in the state. The party has gotten a candidate that the people cannot wager that he cannot live to the expectations of the electorate in the state. Suleman is the candidate to beat. He has the capacity to develop the state and put it on the part to greatness. He is not a political neophyte or just a new kid on the block who shall ascend to leadership by sheer luck. He is prepared for the job of governing Kogi. His administration shall not be defined by pauses such as the perfunctory rituals of being-governor-no motion as it is happening today.
Amin Suleman is from Idah local government, the seat of the Attah of the dominant Igala tribe of the state. Idah is a local government that has not produced the governor before. He is a man who represents the Idah agenda to produce the next governor of Kogi state and he is the best man for the job. I think a man from the heart of the Igala nation, young, tested and excelled is the best man to represent the PDP in winning the next election in Kogi state.
