Kogi 2019: APC NWC urged to adopt direct primaries

The national working committee ( NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been advised to adopt direct primaries to elect a candidate that would fly the flag of the party in the Kogi governorship election slated for November 2019.

The call was made in Abuja on Wednesday by the Prince Mustapha Mona Campaign Council.

Its director general, Kwanashie Ozotu Yahuza, made this known in a world press conference. He said if this is not done, it may cost the party the election in Kogi state.

“We call on the party to constitute competent, unbiased hands for the Kogi state direct primaries. This will ensure the sustainability of peace and unity of our party members. We are also calling the attention of the president to as a matter of urgency advice the national working committee to stick with free, fair and credible election in Kogi state in order to rebuild the confidence of the people in APC.”

The party, he also noted, would accord 50 percent inclusion for women across boards because of their abilities as good managers and dependable leaders.

In his remarks, Prince Mona said the purpose of his desire to contest the governorship seat is to move the state forward. “Unfortunately, Kogi state has been behind in many ways; therefore, the gathering of like-minds is needed to redeem the state in order to eradicate poverty in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision of taking 10 million people out of poverty in the next four years. If we don’t do the right thing now, we would have crisis in the future and that is why we are here.”

He noted that it is imperative for Kogi to lead the way out of poverty in view of its strategic location.
