Kogi: APC adopts indirect primaries for guber election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kogi state chapter over the weekend adopted the indirect format of primaries election for the forthcoming November 16th governorship poll.

The decision was taken at a stakeholders meeting where it was resolved that all aspirants should be encouraged to exercise their freedom to vie for the ticket.

Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello has boasted that the party membership has increased under his leadership, adding that it was a demonstration of the people’s trust of his leadership.

Further, he promised not to disappoint such trust saying that he would need their unalloyed support to do more for the party.

The governor also advised party leaders against stopping anybody that desires to contest for the ticket, adding the APC remains an attractive platform for a guaranteed victory.

He cautioned the party leaders against casting aspersions on any aspirant, stating anyone who wishes to contest against him at the primaries should not be seen as an enemy.

He advised the stakeholders and party members to maintain decorum, desist from abusive acts against any opponent or their supporters.

The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, acknowledged the effort of the governor in mobilising the registration of new members of the party noting not less than 500,000 new members have been registered.

He assured that the members of the party will abide by the indirect primaries adopted by the party.

He urged members of the APC to be resolute in ensuring that the APC wins the governorship slated for November 2019.
