Kogi: Celebration of 5-month payment of salary arrears an indication of morally bankrupt government – APC aspirant

The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kogi state, Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd) has described the celebration of  payment of  five months salary on bail out fund to offset scores of months of salary arrears by the government as the most ignoble and morally reprehensible act any government could undertake.

Jibrin who decried such attitude lamented that governance had been reduced to a deplorable level.

Jibrin said it was shameful for agents of government to take to the streets in jubilation over payment of salary to workers that Governor Bello’s counterpart in Ekiti State publicly declared was never an achievement to receive praise for.

He questioned the rationale behind such self praise in spite of glaring statistics indicating greater proportion of the arrears still standing uncleared.

He contended that the non-payment of salary that had become the official licence of Governor Bello’s administration was a deliberate creation of his maladministration but never an accidental occurrence.

He sympathised with the state civil servants and local council workers for their plight and encouraged them to keep faith with the resolve that God would soon come to their rescue.

Jibrin also called on the people of the state to unite themselves against tyranny and vote out the corrupt and insensitive government of Governor Yahaya Bello.

He promised to stand by his commitment to their welfare if voted into power and reverse the dehumanising policy of this government that has reduced their worth in life.

The APC chieftain therefore said any government that failed to make the welfare of its citizens a top priority ceased to be called a government, but an organised scam.
