Chief Judge of Kogi state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, has charged the newly inaugurated High Court Judge, Justice Yahaya Adamu, to justify the confidence reposed in him by being fair and just in the discharge of his duties.
He also appealed to the family and friends of the new high court judge to give him breathing space and not to make him a conduit pipe in the discharge of his duties as a Judge.
Speaking shortly after the swearing in ceremony of the immediate past Chief Registrar of the High Court , Justice Yahaya Adamu, who was promoted recently, warned him to shun any act inimical to fair and just administration of justice in the state, urging him to be guided by the oath of office earlier administered on him .
He pointed out that there were lots of temptations, stressing that Justice Yahaya Adamu must close his eyes against all temptations to justify the trust reposed in him.
Justice Ajanah explained that to become a Judge in Nigeria is not an easy task, adding that in the past few months, Justice Yahaya Adamu has passed through stages involved in a high court judge.
He pointed out that he had forwarded Justice Yahaya Adamu’s name to the National Judicial Council as replacement for late Justice Akogu who died late last year.
On infrastructural decay as enumerated by the Okene branch of the NBA , Justice Ajanah stated that the state judiciary was living with limited resource available , stating that the judiciary had just relocated the Koton Karfe High Court which was completely submerged by Flood last year while it has also rehabilitated Kabba High Court complex and Ogugu Area Court will soon be rehabilitated .
Earlier, chairman Okene branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, Isiaq Odenge, after eulogising the good virtues of Justice Yahaya Adamu , appealed to the Chief Judge to look into the infrastructural decay in Okene High Court and other lesser courts in the division.
Justice Yahaya in his response, promised not to let Kogi judiciary down, assuring that he will perform his duties as spelt out by the code of conduct enshrined in the constitution of the country.
