Kogi CJ to Notary Publics: Live up to demands of justice system

Chief Judge of Kogi state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, has charged newly appointed Notary Publics, Babatunde Raphael Bello and Usman Joshua Enamali, to use their positions to address the challenges of justice administration in the state.
Justice Ajanah gave the charge yesterday during the swearing-in of the duo as Notary Public at the premises of Kogi state High Court, Lokoja.
The Chief Judge who pointed out that the appointment was in recognition of their legal service in the state, noted that the honesty, dedication to duty, candour and the belief in the rule of law exhibited by Bello and Enamali earned them the well merited appointment.
According to him, “You will realise that acknowledgement of this nature comes with concomitant obligation. You are constantly in the public glare.
“As an officer of the Supreme Court and in accordance with the Notary Public Act, you are imbued with some powers and responsibilities. You are to exempt yourselves from acting in matters which you have interest and in other cases you are to perform your responsibilities with utmost good faith.”
While charging them to comply with the provisions of the Second Schedule of Notary Public Act, the Chief Judge warned them not to use the appointment for the purpose of mischief or fanning the embers of political sentiment.
