Kogi delegate wants Ajaokuta Steel developed

A Kogi state delegate at the ongoing national conference Hajiya Ladi Ibrahim, has called on the conference to suggest ways to the federal government to have the political will to look into the Ajaokuta Steel Mill for the benefit of the entire country.
Hajiya Ladi stressed that if the company is developed, the over dependence on mono economy only determined by oil would be reduced.
The Kogi delegate emphasized the need for the dredging of the River Niger to pave way for a seaport for the shipping of agricultural and other products to and from the hinterland.

According to Hajiya Ladi, the president’s speech afforded the delegates the opportunity as Nigerians to vent their anger and discuss the way forward to find solution to the problems plaguing the country.
The delegate enumerated the issues like devolution of power, fiscal federalism, insecurity which beckon the attention of the delegates
She lamented that the youth have become a thorn in the flesh of the Nigerian society stressing that the country is sitting on a time bomb that has to be addressed on a short term and long term basis.

In her words “the conference must address gender inequality in the system while the 35 percent affirmative action be entrenched in the constitution to guarantee justice and fairness in all that we do to avoid the wrangling at the states and geopolitical zones.”
She underscored the need for everybody to be given a sense of belonging within the context of the federation to ensure that love and peace prevail.
On the time allotted for the conference, she said delegates were committed to the task of the conference  to ensure that the conference was drawn to a close in three months’ time saying that members  would be broken into committees to facilitate a speedy deliberation.
She stressed that the 50 wise men played a very significant role at ensuring that the conference moved forward.
