Kogi expends N26. 9bn on salary, pension in 2016

In line with its avowed commitment to transparency and accountability in management of public funds, the Kogi state government has published the state’s audited accounts for the year ending 31st December 2016.

The audited accounts that shows a balance expenditure and revenue profile, was made available to newsmen in Lokoja yesterday by the State Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Ashiru Asiwaju.

The final balance sheet, according to the report indicated the sum of N128.890million as receipts, while the same amount was expended. He noted that N22.530 billion came in as statutory allocation, with N8.488million as the state’s share of the Value Added Tax.

The domestic excess crude, the report further showed, amounted to N1.476billion, while refund from the federal government amounted to N11.211billion, N22.401billion expended on salary, and N4.545billion on pension and gratuity. The commissioner assured the people of the state government’s determination to judiciously use available fund for public good.
